Mine chaser hull class 332 / 333 / 343 / 352
The hull design of the minehunters saw versatile use within the German Navy. Originally, the fast minesweepers of the Hameln-class 343 and the minehunters of the Frankenthal-class 332 were built and commissioned. As the Navy's mission profile evolved, some of these boats were decommissioned, while others were rebuilt. The Ensdorf-class KL353, for example, was developed from these conversions. The Frankenthal-class minehunters, in various configurations – KL332B, KL332C, and KL332CL – remain in service today.
These vehicles are now equipped with a 27mm MLG (multi-purpose gun) instead of an anti-aircraft gun (FLAK/40mm) and remain in service. The numerous equipment variations make it difficult to choose a class, resulting in a wide range of preferences for specific configurations.
What all boats in this class have in common, however, is their distinctive hull. This hull forms the basis of every minesweeper or chaser of the current generation.
The model
The fuselage is printed in 7 sections. This allows for printing at any scale. For RC operation, we recommend a scale of 1:40 or 1:50 – smaller scales are of course possible.
At a scale of 1:40, the boat will have a length of approximately 1360 mm and a width of approximately 230 mm. A minimum pressure chamber of 235 x 235 x 235 mm will be required.
At a scale of 1:50, the boat will have a length of approximately 1088 mm and a width of approximately 184 mm. A minimum print volume of 200x200x200 mm is required.
The model can be printed with standard PLA. However, we recommend a more "elastic" material, such as PLA+. This has better flexibility and makes the boat less prone to breakage.
Caution: PLA filaments exposed to direct sunlight can warp if exposed to heat for too long. Therefore, consider the permanent location of your model or choose a more temperature-resistant filament.
Our advantages
- This model is not designed for any specific scale. The scales listed above are merely a recommendation. We provide tables of required fittings for these scales. RC operation will also work with other scales, but you will need to source your parts yourself. Keep in mind, however, that the level of detail varies with increasing scale. The smaller your model, the more detail will be lost.

- You always have spare parts on hand and even after years of operation you don't have to spend time searching for defective parts.
- The limits of printing are determined by your 3D printer. The build volume of your printer defines the maximum possible scale.
RC compatibility
The model is designed for use as an RC boat. Appropriate foundations for servos and motors are present in the hull and are partially printed directly into the structure.
The images include a table showing the boat's scale. For scales 1:40 and 1:50, the table lists the dimensions for any fittings.
The necessary fittings for the boat must be purchased separately.
