German fast attack boats of the Gepard class 143A were in service with the German Navy from 1982 to 2016.
The hulls with 4-propeller drive, which were still made of wood at the time, could drive through the water at up to 40 knots. The armament of the boats was enormous for their size.
The boat is printed in 8 sections. This means that scales of any size can be printed. The model was designed for the scale 1:50 and 1:40. At 1:40 the boat will be about 1140mm long and about 170mm wide. At this scale, the components require a printing plate size of at least 175mm x 175mm.
For printing on a scale of 1:50, a printing plate with a size of at least 210x210 is required.
The scale 1:40 is also possible. This results in a minimum printing plate size of 210mm x 210mm.
The model can be printed with conventional PLA. However, we recommend something "more elastic" material, such as bpsw. PLA+.
The content of the data set is also a converter, which lets you calculate the desired scale. The calculator gives you a factor value, which you can then insert into your slicer when scaling your model. You must apply this factor to all parts belonging to the model in order to be able to assemble your model in the same scale.
The model can be used as an RC boat. Corresponding foundations for servos and motors are available in the fuselage and are printed as well.
In the pictures you will find a table in which the boat is converted into various scales. For the scales 1:40 and 1:50, the dimensions provided for any fittings are listed.
Corresponding fittings for the boat must be purchased separately.
