Main deck - Frankenthal-class 332 minehunter
The German Navy's mine countermeasures vessels have been based on a standardized hull design since the early 1990s. A large number of mine countermeasures boats have been built on this basis, including the Frankenthal class, which was designed as a minehunter and is built on the same hull design.
This set includes the main deck along with all the necessary components such as the anchor windlass, boxes, and cable drums. If you already own a hull, this could be the perfect addition to your model.
The model
The deck is printed in 7 sections, with some parts separated into port and starboard sections. Any scale can be printed. The model was designed for a wide range of scales. At 1:50, the boat will be approximately 1088 mm long and 184 mm wide. A 1:50 scale print area of 200 x 200 x 200 mm is required. At 1:40, a 235 x 235 x 235 mm print area is required.
The model can be printed with standard PLA. However, we recommend a more flexible material, such as PLA+. This has better bendability and makes the boat less prone to breakage. Printing with ABS or PETG is also possible, of course.
The build deck is stable enough for printing with PLA. The deck surfaces are designed to be robust, so you don't have to worry about breakage during surface finishing.
Our advantages
- This model is not designed for any specific scale. However, please note that the level of detail varies with the scale. The smaller your model, the more detail will be lost.
- Unlimited copies - Buy the product once and use it for your entire fleet.
- Decide for yourself which materials you use for printing.
- The limits of printing are determined by your 3D printer. The build volume of your printer defines the maximum possible scale.
- The hull sections are glued together, and the frames offer the option of additionally connecting them with screws. In this way, the adhesive serves only as a seal. Another advantage is that the screws apply even pressure to the bonding surface during gluing, resulting in a virtually perfect bond. Large clamps are then no longer necessary.
- While adhesives lose their strength over time, screwing the hull together ensures that it retains its stability even as it ages. Glued hulls become brittle with age, creating the risk of breakage at the glued joints upon impact. In the worst-case scenario, this can mean the loss of the entire model. Screwing the hull together minimizes this risk, allowing you to enjoy your model for longer.
Combine FDM and resin printing
Get even more out of the kit by printing large parts with your FDM printer and using your resin printer for small, detailed parts. Generally, all parts are designed to be printed with an FDM printer, but you can give your boat an even more detailed edge by combining both methods. Of course, you can also print the entire model with your resin printer.
Scope of delivery
